Third stretch goal met, and we got 48 hours left to reach stretch goal #4, which is...

Hello fellow survivors!

Looks like we reached the third stretch goal, which means: official modding support is in! And along with that, the game's source code will also be made public. Thanks a lot for all the new backers that streamed in over the past two days!

But, now it's also time to reveal the next goal!

Stretch Goal 4: Nintendo Switch Port

This one is a long shot, and I realise that. I would really love to port Kandria to the Switch, not just because having a game of my own on a console is a forever-dream of mine, but also because it would mean getting a Lisp game running on a proprietary operating system.

I've already started making inquiries into the Switch port, actually, and it is... challenging, especially for Lisp. I can't say much due to the presence of Nintendo NDAs, but yeah. I'd love to get enough funds to sink my teeth into this, and hire some other experts to help me out. That stuff unfortunately doesn't come cheap though, hence the long stretch goal.

But hey, maybe by some remote chance we can still get there, so please continue helping us spread the word about the campaign on whatever platforms you can!

Only 69 hours left to go! Also, some updates and reminders
almost 2 years ago – Mon, Jul 11, 2022 at 09:20:06 AM

Hello fellow survivors!

Alright, so we got 69 hours left to go (nice). Here's some brief reminders:

  • Tim, Cai, and I will be at Develop:Brighton on Wednesday and Thursday. If you're in the area, come on by the Indie Showcase and hang out. Attendance is free!
  • I'll also be at Gamescom in August! Kandria is part of the Swiss Games delegation, so I'll be around their booth in the business area during the week.
  • I'll be in the comments of the Hackernews post for the article I published yesterday in a few hours, answering any questions you may have about the game's development.

Less than $500 left to reach the next stretch goal now! Please continue to spread the word about the campaign!

A new technical article on Kandria's development!
almost 2 years ago – Sun, Jul 10, 2022 at 01:55:53 PM

Hello fellow survivors!

I wanted to post this update to let you know that I published a lengthy technical article on the development of Kandria, with specifically a focus on how I use Common Lisp, the programming language Kandria and its engine are written in. If that sounds interesting, you can read it on my blog here:

https://reader.tymoon.eu/article/413

As for the campaign, we're getting into the final days now. It'll officially end on Thursday the 14th, 12:00 CEST!

There's still about $1k to go until we reach the third stretch goal. I'm sure we can do it, especially if you help spread the word about the campaign!

We got the level editor stretch goal confirmed! Here's what's next...
almost 2 years ago – Wed, Jul 06, 2022 at 02:36:29 PM

Hello fellow survivors!

Uh, I didn't expect to be updating again so soon, but it looks like we've reached the second stretch goal! Thanks a bunch!

I'm excited to get the level editor up to snuff and see what people can make with it! But, now it's also time to reveal the next goal!

Stretch Goal 3: Modding Support

This goal includes three things in specific:

  • The game source code will be publicly available*!
  • You'll be able to create and share mods for the game to add new enemies, items, mechanics, or change existing behaviour.
  • There'll be an integrated mod manager in the game, using the fantastic mod.io service to allow easy exchange of game mods and levels.

* The code will be released under a license that prohibits using it for any commercial activities, and requires you to share-alike any modifications you make. The release will also not include any assets, so you'll still need a copy of the official game to play it.

There's a lot of work left to get this all done – publishing the source code is one thing, but especially for the mods to be easy to share, I'll need to finish work on my new build system (Forge), and devise a system that easily lets people add functionality that can be deactivated again without restarting the entire game. Finally, creating the UI to handle the mod management will also take quite a bit.

Just like the level editor, this will be a free DLC update, to give us enough time to focus on the actual game until release. But first, we need to actually reach this stretch goal, too. We have exactly one week left to reach it, so please continue helping us spread the word about the campaign on whatever platforms you can!

Corpse Keeper is a very challenging action-strategy dungeon crawler.

Lead a squad of up to three corpses to explore the grim and dark medieval world within limited time, acquire resources and equipment, build a powerful army of the living dead with enemies' flesh and bones, and finally kill the demon lurking in the deep end of the cathedral to hunt his soul.

Their campaign is also entering their last week soon, have a look: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thermitegames/corpse-keeper

Three weeks gone by already? Darn. Let's make sure the last week is a great one!

Hello fellow survivors!

Three weeks have passed, and now we're entering the final stages of the campaign! Things have slowed down significantly in that middle week here, which isn't unusual. Still, thanks to all of your support, we're getting very close to the second stretch goal:

I hope we can reach that second stretch goal, and possibly even the third one yet. If you want to help make sure that we not only can reach that goal, but also will, spread the word about the campaign on whatever platforms you can!
